Design Statement:
This residence is a retirement residence for a client with well defined goals. The primary goals for this project include low maintenance, energy efficiency, response to site conditions, and serving as a backdrop for an art collection. The solution consists of metal roofing and siding on a masonry wainscot that is both an inside and exterior finish. An energy efficient commercial window system allows for generous sun exposure while keeping maintenance to a minimum.

The interior has a distinct look with exposed steel structure and stained concrete floors. The stained concrete floors house hot water radiant heat for maximum comfort. The rawness of the steel and concrete are balanced by maple woodwork and granite finishes. The open plan is broken up by custom designed mobile rolling units to display artwork and house the owners book collection. They are constructed of industrial steel, glass, and maple to complement the house construction.
