Design Statement:
In 1997, Karl Kirchgasler began the process to upgrade the existing Gym/Cafeteria Building. A Cost Analysis Report was prepared which included various options and provided updated cost estimates in today's dollars based on the 1989 Study and Survey Report of the existing K-12 Campus.
In 1998, Karl provided a more in-depth cost analysis to help guide the District which alternative to pursue for a November Bond Election. The completed design package, which included floor plans, exterior elevations and exterior 3-D rendering, was instrumental in the District's successful bond passage.
The project consisted of the following components; new multipurpose room for PE/Cafeteria, full service kitchen, additional restroom, new locker rooms, weight room and storage, three additional classrooms (band, special Ed and business/computer lab), and a new media/library center.
The 17,200 square foot project is an excellent example of Karl Kirchgasler's ability to maintain a strong continuity throughout the project, from start to finish, which involved three different District Superintendents. This successful publicly funded project involved aggressive value engineering throughout the entire design and construction process, which resulted in construction change orders of a net credit in an excess of $40,000, without jeopardizing the integrity of the original design.
